As part of the commemoration of International Women’s Day, women belonging to the Ramón Allende Garcés Internationalist Brigade and the Anti-Fascist International Chapter Chile held a demonstration in the center of Santiago to demand the release of the first Venezuelan combatant and Congresswoman Cilia Flores, who was kidnapped along with President Nicolás Maduro by US imperialism.
In front of the Palacio de La Moneda, the demonstrators displayed a canvas with the slogan: “Cilia Flores kidnapped by imperialism, Chile demands her freedom.”
The action was carried out in the context of the international day of struggle for women, remembering the workers who historically faced conditions of capitalist exploitation and repression in their struggles for social and labor rights.
The demonstrators pointed out that Cilia Flores’ situation constitutes an abuse of Latin American sovereignty and a violation of international norms. In that context, they called on the government of Chile to publicly pronounce on the case.
During the intervention, the participation of militant women in internationalist solidarity processes and in the denunciation of political pressure actions against Latin American countries and against the imperialist war against the Islamic Republic of Iran was also highlighted.
The activity concluded with slogans of international solidarity and a call to maintain the mobilization in defense of the self-determination of the peoples.
